We Lead the Way and others follow
IPREP foresees a future where population growth keeps increasing, the demand for infrastructure development grows proportionately, and project-induced displacement is exacerbated. Management of large-scale project-induced displacement becomes possible only through effective resettlement planning which the institute achieves through collaboration and the application of the latest technologies. IPREP therefore commits to doing the following:
Cultivating a culture of continuous learning,
- Empowering resettlement experts to maximize their potential,
- Train members to manage the resettlement process in a way that employs the latest technologies and leaves a positive experience among developers and project-affected communities alike.

Justification For Creating a Dedicated Resettlement Body

To complete a resettlement process for any project, Surveyors, Engineers, Environmental experts, Sociologists, Valuers and communication experts must provide input. All experts who contribute to the resettlement process belong to different professional bodies, which have their own ethics and codes of conduct. Existence of varying bodies notwithstanding, there is not a known single body in Uganda and probably in the region, that brings Resettlement Practitioners together or puts any checks and balances in place.

Given the above background, IPREP seeks to become a transformational expedition that catapults members’ resettlement management skills to another horizon. Together, members shape a future where project implementation provides advantages to affected people, avails development opportunities, and generates lifelong worth and improvement to communities, where projects displace or resettle people.
